If you are serious about being in the music game then you must know how to play it correctly, and to play it correctly you must know as much as you can about SOCIAL MEDIA.

Why because social media can make you or break you when it comes to being a new artist.

What you need to get started on your way to gain real followers in the millions.

1. TIME -
you must dedicate at least 1 hour a day to social media, posting, updates, mentions and rt's, likes etc.

2. Plan -
pick which social media platforms you like best, and focus on those first. but don't neglect the others, you can always set up your account to post across other social media accounts from your favorites like Instagram and or Twitter.

3. Outsource - 
Don't attempt to do it all alone, if you have a supportive family around you put them to work make them your street team, your boys yours girls your friends or crew should all be part of your street team helping you promote your music and show dates across social media as one unit.

4. NAME / BRANDING -
Your name needs to be recognized that what BRANDING is you need to get to the level of when people say example (JAY) you automatically think ( JAY-Z) . How do you do this by posting good content, always keep your hashtags in order not to many hashtags but solid ones that you will want to use for a long time and that you want people to remember. Examples of these hashtags can be ( album titles, artist official name,  hit single,  or a movement the artist is part of or starting.

5. FOLLOWSHIP -
To gain followers being real is the most important, real posts real likes, rt's all equal real followers. Don't be selfish and only look for likes yourself and never like anyone else's work or posts. Social media will notice and you will start to see that your followers won't grow. Think community, networking and being a good poster.

6. CONTENT - 
Don't overwhelm your fanbase with just posts of your new music etc. switch it up let them know a little about you, post a pic of what you did that day , what you ate. or your favorite sports something real about your life, remember community feel = followship.

7. MARKETING PROGRAMS-  
Never use sites that say they can get you a certain amount of followers in 24 hrs or 1,000 followers in what ever time, ( unless you know how they are doing this)  most of these companies as in 98% of them do not do organic following programs. organic following = actually reaching out to and finding real followers who have a interest in your music genre etc.
instead these 1,000 follower quick companies just use a system that increases your followers by clicking as many follow buttons as possible, hoping that for every 100 follows you gain 10 followers back they don't care what or who those followers are or even if the accounts are real, or active.

some of them even sell you the dream that you just gained 1,000 followers but you actually just paid to have 1,000 accounts that they control follow you. so be aware.
